Formed by a group of FE colleges, alongside employability and recruitment experts, The REED NCFE Partnership, The MindSet is a non-trading organisation working to assist further education providers push the employability agenda from within, for the benefit of their learners.
We have come together to develop the sector’s employability competence with the following stated aims:
- Helping the further education sector to marry activities with the needs of local employers and ensuring that learners have the right mindset and skills required by employers
- Developing new employability initiatives, employer relations and employer-led curriculum
- Supporting further education providers that want to excel in delivering an ambitious employability agenda
- Becoming the strongest voice for the further education sector around employer relations, employability and employment for young people
The MindSet’s first project focuses on a provider’s cross-institution approach to employability; The Student/Learner Employability Toolkit, or SET/LET.
The toolkit, is an online tool which facilities a strategic assessment of a provider's employability provision which has been developed by four members of The MindSet – Bournemouth & Poole College, Derby College, Highbury College and Milton Keynes College, alongside recruitment and employability experts, The REED NCFE Partnership.
The toolkit is available to all UK based FE colleges and private training providers who are AELP members, allowing them to share knowledge and to assess where their institution is on the journey to placing employability at the heart of everything they do. Spread over two days, the framework of the toolkit has been designed to allow providers to seek out, review and then further develop their approach to employability in all aspects and at all levels within their institution.
Watch our short video to see how the toolkit can be used.
